BOSE head unit - whats the difference?
My 1998 B5 A4 has the standard Audi Concert unit and standard Audi front speakers and amplified rear speakers.
I am going to upgrade the speakers and amp them and add a subwoofer.
I can easily use the rear speaker low voltage output and convert the front speaker high level output to low level to feed the amp.
But - am I better of sourcing a Bose programmed unit before I do so.
I have been trying to determine if aside from the display and voltage outputs (ie all speaker output is non amplified and low level) if the Audi and Bose versions have preset EQ curves built in?
I have read numerous articles on various forums without getting a definite answer.
Many people suggest that the Bose programmed units have a flat output which will be better to feed an amp, because it is the Bose amp that deals with all the EQ, but I have also read the standard Audi versions have a sort of low volume loudness function which diminishes as the volume is turned up?
Any ideas please?
