Default Both horns bad !!!???

Ive been tracing this No horn situation for 2 nights! finally got it but cant believe it......BOTH horns are SHOT??!! I just cant believe it. I run 12v through em.....NOTHING...I hook up a speaker to the horn harness Clip...I get sound/ or atleast a signal!! I just can beleive BOTH horns have gone out!!

And just as crazy is the price for an audi horn! new 100 bucks each! WOW!!!

So it was the horns, not the relay?

Generic horns will work...

yep..although I think the relay needed a cleaning as not until after I pulled in and cleaned it with contact cleaner and bench tested did it start "clicking"

Put back in...then I could here the relay kick. Hooked up a speaker as all I had laying around and heard a click after wiring in place of one of the horns!!

WOW...again whats the chance of BOTH going bad! Gonna just get a 2 generics as well. That was the last thing I woulda thought. I also threw 12v through the horn as a double check and NOTHING!

Thanks guys!

no as Im thinking they are ok....in that the speaker attached to he cars wire harness buzzes. When I tested the horns themselves I bench tested them out of the car.....so then they were grounded to the battery ( battery + to horn and horn to Ground battery terminal) so....Im thinking Im good on the grounds.

Do you see something amiss with these methods/line of thinking? Thanks

Maybe to be certain I should use a test light on the harness horn connection to be sure its not just a blip and that the lights does indeed light up for the duration the horn button is depressed. But then again...the horn didnt sound on the bench. Im still gonna test that out tonight.

Oh, ok... ya, benchtesting the horns would do it. You could still do the test light thing just to be sure, but I think you found the problem.

I did as you suggested with the test light and yep..she lights when horn applied. Pick up two generic trumpet horns last night for 25 bucks and will slap in today. I did manage to get a little sound out of the old horns but its intermittant so......thanks for the help!!
