Brake/Tail Light Question...
I just wanted to make sure that this is how Audi setup the car from the factory or if the previous owner got crafty with the wiring on it. Is the taillight and brake light supposed to be run on the same bulb (lowest one)? In my case, when I turn on the headlights I only have the third brake light come on to signal that I'm braking. But when I have the headlights off, all three of my brake lights come on. My father noticed this from following me to go pick up the car a few months ago. Any ideas? Thanks!
there are two side running lights on the rear, and then the brake lights have 2 filaments in them, one filament is always on when the running lights are on, one comes on when you push the brake. so 4 bulbs should light up when you turn the headlights on, and 2 more come on when you push the brakes, plus the third brake light up top.
To better illustrate my point: Here is a picture of what my car would like with the headlights on and the brakes being applied. Of course the foglights do not matter in this case... The thing is that if the brakes and tails are run on the same bulb and the bulb is dual filament, there is no brightness change in the bulb when applying the brakes. So it appears that I am not hitting them unless you see the 3rd brake light.
Here's a question... If I were to do the brake light mod to make the rear fogs come on when I hit the brakes, would they only come on when I hit the brakes or would they come on with the headlights as well. If they would light up when I hit the brakes that would cure my problem of the dual filament not lighting up enough to show a difference when applying the brakes.
