Question Breaks Squeeling

My breaks sond horrible, and the sensor light is on. I checked all the breakpads, rotors, etc. and all seems to be in good shape. The break pads appear to be over 50%. The squeeling noise is a metal on metal sound. I can't get it in to the shop until Monday, does anyone have any ideas about what may be causing this?

Could be a blown pad or a uneven worn rotor and pad. The sensor is well into the pad so something would have to either cut it or you reached it into the pad. Brakes arent to expensive and an easy diy. You can do new front for well under $300 and less for the rears.

Like cincy said: could be unevenly worn pad, rotor could be too run out (warped), something cut the sensor apparently so it sounds like uneven pad wear. Someone might not have installed it correctly or possibly you have a faultly brake caliper.

Thanks for the replies. Where is a decent place to buy brake parts from? I called the stealership and they wanted just under $600 for just the front. There is no freakin' way i'm paying them to do it.

If you're doing front brakes and have at least 16" wheels, by all means spend the money for the A8 brake upgrade (search it out on here - been covered a trillion times since noon today). 100% worth it and I doubt you'll find anyone on here who has done and doesn't agree.

yea dude i had the same problem...it only did the noise once in a while though not all the time. when i checked them i took em off checked the pads and rotors and they seemed fine...i mean the rotors were a bit scratched but not too bad..
i just cleaned them off and put them back on and it fixed the noise...turns out they were dirty

ohk yea i was thinking about doing the A8 brake kit swap since i was thinking about doing something about my brakes and everyone keeps saying thats the way to go for best bang for buck type of deal....i was going to get them re-surfaced at a machine shop but might as well...does everyone get the cross-drilled ones that are 50 bucks more than the plain ones and what kind of pads? like probably Hawks but witch ones?

I went with plain rotors and hawk pads but regret getting the hawks. They squeak like hell so I switched to cheap autozone pads.
