Default Breather hose

So it appears the breather hose that connects below the intake right above the oil filter on a 1.8t has broken off. Not sure how long it has been like this as I just got the car a couple of weeks ago. My question is if it will cause any problems till I can fix it? I really don't have the money right now and have to get to work and drive it 10 miles one way. Hopefully fix this weekend. Hoping someone will know what hose I'm referring to. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

It's part of the PCV system. You will probably get a rough idle because it causes a vacuum leak, and since it totally open - you may also get a burnt oil smell as it vents from the crankcase.

You can change it without removing the intake, you have to contort a bit - but it is doable (I did my '04 A4 and my daughters '01 A4). You can get a replacement at ECS (or other Audi parts site), Audi B5 A4 Quattro 1.8T Engine Intake ES#7934 Crankcase Breather Tube - 06A103213F

But if I had to do it again I would go with the 034 silicone replacements. Breather Hose Kit, Late-AMB Audi A4 1.8T, Reinforced Silicone - 034Motorsport | Performance Parts for Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen

I would also be prepared to replace several of the other vacuum hoses in that area as well.

Now that his question is answered, can you tell me/show me - pics/point me to a thread on where the actual PCV Valve is?

Thanks

Thanks for the response! I will definitely be getting the entire kit. I have no idea how long it has been like this but it does look pretty nasty inside the hole. This car is going to be a project with all the problems I am finding. I plan on doing alot of the work myself to save some money.

B6 A4 1.8T PCV System - complete replacement?

Check out post number 10, while it is in the B6 section, there is a diagram that shows the vacuum system for the B5 AWM. The pcv is part number 6.

I was checking this out yesterday, and - please correct me if I'm wrong - but my car doesn't even have a PCV valve, does it?

Your car does have a PCV valve, it's #6 on the diagram, called "bleeder valve".
And all of the parts shown in the diagram are part of the PCV system.

Just ordered the breather hose kit from 034 Motorsport. Should be here by next Friday lets just hope the reviews I read don't come true about the customer service. Some of them were kinda old. Fingers crossed!
