A/C Compressor

A/C Compressor
Hey gang, my A/C compressor kicked it last summer. Now that I'm buying a condenser, I thought I'd go ahead and replace the compressor. Purchased a refurbished one from ECS, which said, and still says, IN STOCK. I got an email saying it was NLA, or no longer available.
Ok....
So, I've been looking around. Mapco makes really cheap ones, but... buy right or buy twice. I've found what I think is the correct replacement clutch. I might try that route. I have also been thinking about an A/C delete. I'm in oregon, and we never see above 90 here. I mean it'd be nice and all to have the A/C, if nothing else, for the passenger's convienience, but it would save a lot of money to delete it.
What are the pros and cons? I have the V-Belt, so it'd just be a direct removal. Obviously less weight on the crankshaft pulley, but what kind of power gains does that translate to?
How much work to remove all the piping? Currently the condenser is off, the refridgerant is drained and everything is opened up.
It would be a necessary step for a full tuck...
Comments anyone?

Also, someone clue me in on SAI. I know its useful for cold starts, which I probably will experience on the mountain, but I heard it only improved cold start emissions. I currently am running a test pipe so emissions shemissions.... dont flame me for that.
Anyway, same things. Pros and cons? Will it throw a CEL? Performance increase?

Deleting the A/C compressor will relieve load on the engine and give you slightly better engine response, you might pick up a few horses but nothing to shake a stick at. If you can live without the A/C and you don't plan on reselling the car in the near future go ahead and take the belt off, but don't disconnect the lines. If you get crap in the lines it will **** up everything in the system and will cost you thousands of dollars to fix when you want to do it.
As for the SAI, its completely useless. It injects air into the exhaust stream on cold start to aid in heating up the cat converter, thats all it does. Its an expensive thing to replace as well, so if you're currently running a test pipe disconnect the connector to the SAI pump, thats what i do. You will get a check engine light but that never really bothers me. You can wire in a resistor to turn off the check engine light, but i don't know what the resistance value is, you would have to do an ohm test on the pump to figure that out.

Well I'm thinking of doing a shave and tuck on the bay sometime soon, I think I'm just gonna pull the A/C. Where can I disconnect the pump, and where might I find info on the resistor value for the CEL avoidance?
Also, whats the block off plate for?
