calling out all headlight and hid experts please! :(
I agree ImTheDevil we're here to learn from each other not to bash one another thats what FaceBook is for.
Oh and my bulbs in the Subaru are 12000k if anyone was/is interested. Got them from DDM tuning and there great with lifetime warranty and all!

eh I don't know man, there are far better ways that dragonrage couldve made his point. I'd be pissed too if I was trying to learn about something and was told that I should die by someone who judged my actions without knowing the whole story. Being a noob doesn't automatically I

I love it when the noobs with 2 whole posts start bashing.
Let me make this clear: Installing ANY aftermarket HID system in ANY car is illegal. Some of us can safely get away with it because we have projector headlights, which have a cut off, which can be adjusted properly, and not blind people. Using HID lights in reflector housings is not safe, because it splashes everywhere, and no amount of adjustment can fix it. And honestly, HID lights in a reflector housing makes you look like an *** clown, especially if they have a blueish tint. Most people will know you're just an imposter.
nine11warrior, get your panties out of a bunch, and learn your role. Using your second post to start name calling and showing that you're just PMSing is a good way to find yourself not getting any help, and generally unwelcome in our community.

Anyhow, for those of you HAVE been trying to help, again, thank you, much appreciated. DVS 4, I'll look into those relays as well and see whats up. I don't think that's it though cause I was kinda having problems blowing out regular halogen bulbs every so often back when I had just the stock head units. I got the truck new in 07, and into the second year, was replacing bulbs on average twice a year (which is really frequent, even for halogens). It was primarily happening on the left side, but it would happen on the right side about 1/2 as often. I talked to a shop guy about this today who's been trying to figure this out with me and I agree with his thought, that the problem is somewhere in the wiring BEFORE even getting to the lights. He checked some umbrella service site (its like a main site for the service shops for Toyota I guess) and got an answer saying they think its a part (forget what he called it). I'll double check with him and see what that part was again, and will definitely keep you posted with what I find out, or what gets the problem resolved.
If the relay harness didn't work, you can try the errors cancelers HID capacitors

So, if it makes you feel any better, let me clarify, I have PROJECTOR HID's, not the stock head unit, so I'm not over-reflecting.
I'm sorry, I just get my feathers all ruffled when someone comes into our community and starts talking smack, but, as I agreed with Jeremy, DragonRage could have said it differently, or should have just kept his mouth shut.
Either way, I could never be as cool as you, and your obviously vast superior knowledge. When I saw the thread was over a year old, I kinda skipped some parts. So, let me get this straight: You need technical advise to make your HIDs work in your aftermarket headlights on your '07 Tacoma? This is the B5 section... I would try over in the Tacoma section.
Oh wait, we don't have one, because this is AUDIFORUMS.com...
This thread was so informative until all the posturing and mudslinging started. In an attempt to get us back on track, I'll ask a pertinent question:
Some of the later B5's, like the 2001 or 2001.5 models, came from the factory with stock HID headlamps.
Are these the same projector housings that came with all B5's starting with the 1999.5 upgrade? My car(1999.5) has the new projector housings, so I'm wondering if the only difference between my car and the 2001.5 with HID's....are the bulbs and ballasts?
My projector housings came with H7 halogen bulbs.
Second question: If I wanted to do things "by the book", is it possible to buy stock B5 HID housings with HID bulbs and ballasts that are DOT approved...regardless if the cost is insane or not?
I have been wanting to get HID's into my car, but I don't want to have these kind of technical glitches, nor do I want to be illegal if I can do it in a legal manner.
Thanks for any answers.

My license plate bulb goes on and off on my caravan every so often... What should I do?
I dont have PROJECTOR housing just a rusted clear plastic. If I go LED will that make my license plate brighter? I dont want to blind people behind me. Please advice!!!

To answer the above question about installing stock '01 HIDs in the 99.5, I'm not sure how "legal" it is or not. One might say they are, since they're stock, but one may say not, because they're not "factory installed."
Well Bradster, thanks for the redundant education on what's street legal though if you read my initial question before metalman and drago started cheerleading, my question was about a technical problem, not vehicle codes. And I don't recall ever saying I had stock housing head units...cause I don't. So, if it makes you feel any better, let me clarify, I have PROJECTOR HID's, not the stock head unit, so I'm not over-reflecting.
Second, I've seen plenty of Tacomas with blinding HIDs, and previously you didn't mention the use of projectors. Knowing this would have made some of us more apt to help you, instead of help you blind people such as myself.
Third, Tacoma vs A4 wiring is different; you'd likely get a more appropriate/better response from a forum where the majority of members operate the same vehicle which you are having problems with.
Seriously? Many replacement LEDs for applications like this are actually dimmer than the bulbs they are replacing.
