I know of one guy who made it work on a 30v but the 30v is the basis for the S4 engine as well. I'm not sure either way if it'd work but the main question would be - why? You are unlikely to gain anything from it power-wise, and even changes in sound are kind of unlikely.

a friend of mine is getting rid of one for free and I figured I use it since I'm due for a new one anyway. I can care less for the power(which is nothing) or sound. Lol

I wonder if it would need any adjustments such as cutting and welding

i would imagine that it should fit fine (at least from the cats back). also thats assuming you are quattro. the exhaust varies in the rear between quattro and FWD to accommodate the rear drivetrain. if you have any remote welding ability or know someone who does hanger position shouldnt be much of a concern either. if its your friends, and its free, just jack up your car and slide the s4 exhaust underneath and compare the two. another thing to take into consideration is the pipe size. pretty sure the s4 is 2.5", but I dont know what the 12v exhaust diam. is.

hope any of that helps

That might've been me. Everything from the downpipes back fits the 30v perfectly, the only thing you need to do is weld reducers onto it because it's a larger diameter. The S4 pipes around around 2.25' and 30v pipes are just over 2". That being said it's pretty loud and drones on the highway, for me it was too loud but it could be fine if you can tolerate it more.

Only video I have is with just the resonator connected, no muffler. It sounds nothing like the full exhaust. It does sound good though, just oo loud for my tastes.
