car dangerously fishtails
i havent drove my car for a while, so i drove it yesterday, and i noticed that when going on a higher speeds specially on freeway it fishtails a lot, and even if hit small bumps and potholes it fishtails, so i got it alligned, balanced and checked the tire rod ends and control arms it looks still good, theres no play on it or even in the wheels so i am thinking that it is still good.then i looked at the rear struts and i noticed that my rear shocks are blown left and right. is it possible that its my struts that is making it fishtail? its kinda scary..
It's possible. I don't recall - is your car a quattro? If so, you may have drive axle/CV joint issues in the back. Worn inner CVs are know to cause straightline instability. If the rears are worn out it could cause a sideways push. Doublecheck tire pressures and lug torque too, and Jack up the car to shake your wheels so you can check for bearing wear.
Honestly if you have the sport suspension just leave it alone coil over's arnt gonna make enough diffence if your not racing the car but if you dont check out this website http://www.stratmosphere.com/vmaxx.htm
the stuff is on the bottom of that page

I'll take a look. I'm pretty sure I have one or two pairs of rear struts in my garage (several of us here have swapped out for S4 or aftermarket struts). None of the struts had issues. If you decide not to go aftermarket right now, you can have them - cover the shipping and they're yours.
