Default Is car driveable without hub centric rings?

I bought some 18's on Friday, and they came today, but friggin tire rack didn't ship these "ring" thinggys.... I don't know what they really are, or what they do, and the're shipping me some now... But I really want these on my car... like now... Will it hurt anything if I put the rims on without these rings, and put them on in like 5 days?

Did you look on the inside of the wheel? They shipped mine already on the inside. Without them, you're wheels will probably shake/vibrate a lot.

I know of some people that don't use them. The worst thing that could happen would be that you put them on and ifthey're vibrating too much, you'd just have to take them off.

center them best you can on the hub, like with some cardboard, then wrench em down to about 70-80lbs. you should be fine.....you may end up with a tolerable shake

The wheel torque for a b5 is 89 lbs/ft according to the manual. If you runa low torque your studs may break with the wheel passing you at the worst time. You can run them but the wheel may not run true and the wheel attachment is not as strong as is should be. Probably best to wait and put them on once. Don't forget to retorque at about 100 mi. B.

Werd to all of the above. Not everyone runs them, but it's suggested. I've heard it helps the ride quality, but ride quality on 18s kinda sucks no matter what. I'm glad I didn't go with 19s.

You can go ahead and mount your wheels without the concentric rings. Just make sure you tighten theLugs with the weight off the wheels. That way the taper on the lug bolts have a better chance of centering the wheels. And then when you get the set of concentric rings later go ahead and put them on. Even using the rings I make it a habit to tighten theLugs with the weight of the car off of the wheels.

Good Luck...

why not just wait. Waiting a few days is better than something bad happening.
The world isnt going to be over in a couple of days so I would be paitent and wait it out.

What kind of rims did you get. They might not have shipped them because you don't need them. The Enkeis that I sold to 96A4Owner didn't have them. I would call them up and ask them. If you need them, I'm sure they could rush shippment.
