It appears as if your car sounds like a lawnmower. (Sherlock Holmes strikes again)

Give us more details, man. There could be a number of things wrong. If your throttle response is fine, check your flexpipe, and check for any exhaust leaks you may have. If not, give us more details.

You can find it by ear. For example, if it sounds like a lawnmower on the passenger-side upfront, then it's the flexpipe.

Um, question, what engine do you have? because do 2.8's have a flex pipe?

when the car is COLD, get it up on a couple of jacks and start it up

then get under it and run your hand along the exhaust pipe until you feel air escaping

when you find your exhaust leak you take it to a muffler repair shop and have the muffler patched

should be a 25-50$ deal, good luck!

I second what Quattro said. But the key point is to make sure it's a cold start. Even so, don't necessarily touch the exhaust, just hover your hand above it and very quickly see if you can find some leak.

If you take too long, prepare for some seriously hot air on your fingers.

Mine currently sounds like one too. We got 15 inches of snow the other night and I was out in my quattro out drivin the snow plows :P But I went through some really deep snow and I am pretty sure it knocked a clamp off my exhaust. Happened a few months ago and I went to the muffler shop and they just put a new one on for free. I am gonna go back Tuesday, I got school tomorrow and got make it there on time. Its embarrassing having an audi that sounds like a beater []
