Default Car wont stay running

Ok so bought a 99 a4 b5 2.8 30v about 6 months a year ago it was wrecked and was going to have it fixed this year actually this is keeping me from dropping it off to fix the body. Car ran great when I parked it about 6-9months ago since then the battery has died old battery so go new battery put it in. We'll tried to start got running but won't idle and will stall if get off gas throttle doesn't seem to react to the pedal properly. Got a code check it it was P1545 Throttle Pos. Control Malfunction. Looked it up forum said probably needs to be recalabrated. Tried to to says I found online and nothing. What do you guys think don't wanna have to get a tow

Disconnecting the battery (or DEAD battery for that long) wipes out the throttle alignment memory. This causes P1545. P1544, and P0123 errors and the car will not stay running or runs like crap and your pedal will not react. This is your issue more than likely by your description.

The best way to do the reset is with your VAG com software...not manually, but if you did do it manually, did you do the following?:

Press gas pedal to floor, turn ignition on (don't start it, just turn it on).

Hold gas pedal to the floor for 30 second or more.

Turn the key OFF and release gas pedal....

Clear codes with your VAG-COM.

Start engine normally.

Don't have a vag com. Do those steps but just cleared the codes with obd-2 scanner

Well, if you did have a VAG, you could see if it was communicating with the module....

I would keep trying to recalibrate it. It just really sounds like that's your issue.....

If TB doesn't reset manually, you're going to need a VAG to go further.

That is possible. That's why I mentioned, if you have a VAG, you can see if it communicates with the TB module, if it can't - generally it's fried....and with a VAG, if it does read the TB module, you can reset it...

See if you can find someone on this forum close to you with a VAG, and see if they have time....that way, it may save you $117

I know I've been wanting to purchases one for while but don't have a laptop to install on. And ya cause I would have to pay a tow both ways since wrecked anyways so that would be an extra 200 right there so 320 just to try to reset unless I find someone local. Anyone from Cleveland ohio area lol
