I have a 1997 2.8L V6 FWD and replaced both of mine one in 2010 and one in 2014. Did not replace the entire exhaust. OEM from Audi was way too much money for me so I bought them at Magnaflow Exhaust Solutions - Did a quick search and see that Flowmaster Mufflers has them too and at the time I bought them there were not that many sellers out there. I say that as I lived in California at the time, and they require a CARB approved catalytic converter. If you do not live in California it is easier.
I then brought it to a muffler shop and they welded it on for (at the time) $95.00. And at the time the catalytic converter cost me no more than $200 each. Weird but one is more expensive than the other. Where are you getting a quote for $1100.00
