changed valve cover gaskets,still smoking
hey guys. I have a 96 audi a4 2.8L .I was having a lot of smoke coming out of both valve covers. problem started getting worse and worse, where it would only smoke once in awhile,to where it was constant smoking. when I stop, smoke shoots out of the engine. Also,i had a lot of oil that was leaking from the covers.
So I got some new gaskets, and replaced them. leak stopped, smoke stopped from one side, but on the passenger side, its still smoking from the rear of the engine when it is revved,or driven a little bit. when I idle,it slowly stops within a minute.
So I disconnected the breather tube, and it was pretty gunky. It didn't look blocked or anything, but I used a screw driver and tried to pull some of that stuff out.
So now it doesn't smoke as much anymore, and when it smokes, its smoking from different parts of the gasket cover.
So is this a breather hose issue? And if so,can I just get some tubing, and the connectors, and make my own spider hose? or is there anything special and that I have to get the official one? thanks
