Default Cheap chips?

does a cheap chip help at all? i have been looking around at chips and noticed that it is really difficult to find a chip for a 2.8L. i found a couple that are $69 and was wondering if these will help at all, or if they will just ruin my engine quickly. this is the one that ime looking into specifically.

As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

After looking over that website, I'd be a bit concerned. They offer the same price for the same chip for every engine that came in A4's between 1996 and 2010. During the B5 generation alone, Audi offered three different engines with no less than 7 different engine codes (that I'm aware of). The fact that this chip supposedly works with all of THOSE motors, let alone anything newer than 2002, is crazy. There's a sticky atop the B5 forum with information regarding chip manufacturers and which is best for your respective engine, I'd start there if i were you

Just looked over that page again, another thing that would concern me is the "plug and play connectors" that you get with your purchase. A real chip is far from "plug and play"...

Personally, on a 2.8 i wouldnt bother.

But if you want and if you're 30v people have said the SpeedTuning chip is pretty decent on those motors.
