Default Chips (without the dip)

Well, I guess I could be that dip. For awhile I've been searching out chip companies leisurely, but recently I've come into some money and my tuning addiction has been causing me to itch, soo.... opinion time! I've read some articles, and it seems that GIAC would be the "best" chip for my 1998 B5 1.8T. Now I know you'll be sorry to hear this, but I can't see this car getting more power upgrades than exhaust, chip and possibly a KO4 if my turbo kicks it. Now GIAC and some others chip me to around 200 horses, while Revo and others go to 190. I want to get quality and some switching (stock to performance) would be good. One thing about REVO I liked was the variable boost/timing/A/F ratio controller. That thing looked cool, like getting 3 tunes on one chip.

So, like I said, what are you guys running/how do you like it? Recommend me to death.

Running GIAC.

So far have had 3 different tunings all with GIAC and haven't had any problem with it.
Definitely felt the power gain when I first chipped it running plain ol' 91 at the time.

I also currently have the flash switcher program. Barely use it but it could be useful at times.

What do you mean three tunings?

And yeah, I was going to use the flashloader. Throw it in stock if my parents/girlfriend drive it or when I want to pass DEQ easier or something.

Ran the plain old 91 before (stage 1), then went with PC16. I currently have custom tuning.

The switcher can be useful especially when you have to take your car to valet. I don't do it but there are times that it is a must.

Is there an external switch for that or do you have to use the button on the bottom of the wiper (or is it the turn signal) arm? If it requires that button then he's out of luck as the 98 doesn't have it - that didn't come until facelift or trip computer was in play (which even my 99 doesn't have).

Kayak im in the same position as you Im thinking im just gonna go with the GIAC because of general consensus. I wont be going KO4 or higher until at least next summer but how much does that flashloader cost because I definitely like that option on the REVO also

Just so the OP knows, the PC16 file is a K04 turbo tune.

kayakman13 - The dip you most likey talking about is the one after the boost spike, if you get a chip that doesn't have a boost spike or use a MBC to decresase the boost spike you wont have that huge dip. Your best options would be GIAC if your looking for multiple tunes and the least boost spike.
