Sounds like a CV joint to me, look to see if the boot is torn.

There are a couple options, replace the boot only and regrease it (this works if it isnt damaged by not have grease in it for a while, so if you fix it soon it should be okay), replace just the joint, or the whole shaft. I did the whole thing and it was about 100 something bux with a core charge.

Easiest is to just replace the whole shaft...

I wouldn't replace the shaft because people have had problems with the replacements being the wrong length... Might be hard to notice if you're not used to the job because it could just be something like 1-2cm off.

A replacement kit is about $100/wheel but you need $200-300 worth of tools to do it, and that's if you're frugal with your tools. Probably cost about $200-300/wheel at a shop to have done, unless they buy OEM parts, which would raise the price a lot.

Default clicking on a turn

Germanautoparts.com
Two replacement axles under 200$
New boots, new axles, new tone rings.

Larger cost is labour and DO order some new axle to cv bolts AND a tool.
Getting those old twelve points out will be a dog and you won't be able to use them again.

Mine was doing this right up until it popped and dropped it's marbles.
The boot was fine.
