Clicking sound
So my 98 a4 1.8 5 speed had been shuttering when braking slowly. Today wen coming off the 101fwy it did it pretty hard when i released the brake there was this loud clicking. Now it happens every time i let go of the gas. sounds like its coming from the front center could it be a cv joint or boot? Does not make it while accelerating but starts clicking as soon as i let go of the gas also its proportionate to speed and does not change when turning

So I took off the wheel and boot and cv look ok... after driving it a little faster today I realized it does make the noise when accelerating but only past like 20mph anythin below that there is no noise while accelerating...
anybody???
anybody???
i had a very similar issue. the clicking is only audible when you're coasting or slowing down right? mine seemed to be speed sensitive (the faster the car goes, the faster the clicking). i took it to 2 shops and had some mechanic friends try and figure it out but couldn't find ANYTHING wrong. i took it on a 250mile trip and towards the end it finally stopped. wish i could be of more help.
it might just be some little trim piece or something hitting a moving part. im really at a loss on this one

Thanks for the response ilackav, Its actually a little more than just a click though... it sounds like someones holding a piece of metal to my rim and the rim is flicking it every time it spins ... its really loud and yes it is relative to the speed...
