Default Clutch question

How's it going Audi forums. I just sold my s4 recently and picked up another a4 1.8t car. Test drove the car and the clutch would engage very roughly when starting in first from a stop. Instead of grabbing smoothly like all my other Audi's it seemed to just be rough. I bought the car regardless because it was such a clean car and black on black like I was looking for. Drove 12 miles on my way home and it started missing pretty bad. Got the car towed 40 miles home and threw a coil in the car and it runs a bit smoother than it did before. Clutch engages fairly smoothly sometimes, other times its still a bit rough, but nowhere near as bad as it was when I first got the car. I have determined that the motor mounts are not that great, I can physically move the engine a bit with my hands, mounts are tight and not broken. I would like to know if possibly the issue could be mounts rather than clutch. Thanks on advance!

Not sure about the mounts. But from what you say it almost sounds like the dual mass flywheel is bad. They will catch, release and catch again when they aren't solid. Was the previous owner a soccer mom or someone who might have been jerking it off the line every chance he got?

That's what I was worried about. That does seem like what its doing. But sometimes it engages smoothly and have no problems. I have no idea who owned it because I bought it from a dealer. I would imagine it was a younger kid. Car was stock as far as performance but has wheels/tints/ecodes. Guess I'll be doing a stage 2 clutch and lightweight flywheel in the upcoming weeks. Thanks for the input sir.

Get some more opinions. Have an experienced Audi tech drive it before you do all that.
