Default code deleting

Hey guys, I have a 2001 a4 2.8l 5spd. We have owned for about 3 months , We have noticed a little oil consumption last week.the other day the engine light came on and it was code p1392,My question is do I need a vag-com to clear code or can I used my code scanner to delete? I have deleted the code and it comes back, I plan own replacing it (cam sensor)this week. But do I need the vag-com to delete.

If you have a (European) scanner with a "delete" feature, then you should be fine. I have VAG Com, but I also keep a cheap ebay scanner in my glove box that's perfect for that (and other small things).
