Default code: p0170

it was bound to happened.

popped the CEL last night. Went to autozone and got it read ( they wouldnt clear it though )

p0170:

"the powertrain control module uses the oxygen sensor to calculate the air/fuel ratio of the engine. The computer has recognized a rich or lean condition on one engine bank only.

Probable cause: If bank one and two codes set together suspect fuel pressure or MAF sensor. Oxygen Sensor defective. Fuel injector problem."

blew an o2 censor? Just looking for some input.

It could be as "simple" as a vacuum leak!

yea - im going to hook it up to the vag com to see if i can get a more accurate diagnosis. My VDO gauge reads normal vac and boost though. Does feel a little sluggish at times (although it may be in my head). I am thinking its the MAF?

Could it be from the KN filter thats in there? I read that they can cause p0170, but ive had it in there for months without tripping any codes.

Is it safe to drive? I was going to drive it from RI to NJ this weekend.

Is the KN filter "oiled"? I have heard that the oil can migrate off the filter element and foul the MAF.
