Default Code Reader socket

'96 Quattro

Where is the socket for the code reader? It's got to be somewhere, but it appears to be well hidden.

Thanks

Or in the rear ashtray depending on year.

found it in the rear ashtray

I think I scanned, erased the codes, and rescanned.

It's showing no codes but the dash airbag light is still on. The car had some internal dash work done a few years ago in Al. and the light came on after that. In Al. it doesn't matter - but here it does.

Did I not use the reader correctly, or is there another technique to turning the light off?

Thanks

check under your driver's seat. There you should see a yellow plug like this: (picture shamelessly lifted from Jeremy's album)

That little bastard gets loose and can trip your airbag light. If the ziptie fix works, the light should go out immediately. BE CAREFUL!

If you didnt find any codes under the airbag, scan the instrument cluster..
