Default Coil advice for a 2.8 v6 30 v

Hi - I've been dealing with a misfire issue and will definitely be replacing wires, plugs, and my breather hose assembly. Have a question about options re: coil. I believe that my existing coil is OK, but it is definitely old. I usually buy parts off amazon when I can and there are 3 options: ~ $50, ~ $70 and the $160 Bremi.

So my questions are:

- Do coils either work or not work, OR, does their performance degrade over time. (i.e. should i just replace it while i'm doing this other work anyway, even though existing coil may still function)

- If I do replace - would you recommend going with the Bremi or rolling dice on one of the cheapies:

those are cheap as hell. first do a resistance check between the mated coils and see if there is an irregularity. check plug wires/move between known good cylinder/known bad. if the coil is consistent, or if the misfire moves accordingly, you have your answer. ide keep the stock coil if you can. 50$ is just too good to be true.

I've already tried swapping wires (removing two wires from both coil/plug and swapping them). The misfire did not follow with the wire (but think that confirms wires are ok, not necessarily the coil?)

Should I try re routing wires to test the coil? For example routing #1 wire to #2 cyl and vice versa. I was unsure whether messing with order would mess anything up and also noticed that it didn't seem that there was enough slack in wires to reroute

Can you describe in a more detail how/what you do with swapping (or rerouting) wires to test coil, please ?

Ryan,

Before you throw money at those coils, check your PM. I sent you the .pdf for checking them.

mtroxel can I get in on that pdf? I replaced my coil, wires, and plugs, and I'm still getting misfires.
