Coil Springs
I'm looking for stock replacement coil springs for my 2001 A4 Avant 1.8T.
I DON'T want OEM coil springs, too expensive for nothing and the bottom ends always break off.
I DON'T want sport springs, just regular ones.
I DO want heavy duty rear springs if they're available.
Anyone got brand names and part numbers? I know KYB Europe, Monroe and Boge all make stock-replacement coil springs, but their part number listings are confusing and convoluted, mostly because they reference European A4 models.

Unfortunately they only make OEM replacement springs. I've never seen an aftermarket version of an OEM spring. Just the shock/strut.

I agree with Jason. I looked up a couple choices on rear springs for your car. They run between 117.44-134.70 for the average price on a single spring. I'd need a vin number to figure out which one of the 10 choices you'd need to fit your car. That or take a look at your spring and let me know how many color bands you see on the spring, and what color or colors those bands are. Those bands define sport suspension or not, and the weight rating that they are.
Sorry, but $117-$134 is just too much money to spend on a single spring. Especially when I need 4 of them and they're all prone to breakage in the first place. As I mentioned above, KYB Europe, Monroe and Boge all make OEM-spec springs for the European market which are available for a fraction of the price. It's just a matter of figuring out the correct part number for my application, which is difficult since there's no corresponding OEM number.
For example:
http://www.kyb-europe.com/pdf/2013-coil-springs.pdf (pages 22 and 23)
According to that, I think part number RH1021 should be appropriate for the front of my car. It's a spring intended for a B5 A4 Avant with 1.6, 1.8 or 1.8T engine. The price of that spring is only 29.10 GBP at amazon.co.uk.
Also, it looks like part number RC5246 would be the heavy duty spring for the rear of my car. It's only 32.63 GBP at amazon.co.uk.
All together, 4 springs and international shipping comes out to 148.37 GBP, or about $240 USD.
I think I'll give that a try. If it doesn't work out, I'm stuck with 4 springs I can sell to someone who can make use of them. If it does work, I've saved over $250 AND I have brand new springs that are less likely to snap on the bottom coil like the VAG ones. I can put that $250 towards new shocks, instead.

Following up on this topic:
The KYB springs I ordered from Amazon.uk arrived. They took a bit longer than I expected because they were out of stock, actual shipping time was only about 4-5 days. They certainly LOOK like the right part, but I won't know for sure until I have them installed, and that won't be for another month or so.
Just under $240 for all 4 brand new OEM coil springs? Yes please!

I'm starting to think there's some kind of collusion between VW and the suspension manufacturers in North America. The suspension manufacturers make the springs on behalf of VAG, and Audi is the sole entity permitted to sell those springs to the public. This allows Audi to impose an enormous markup, and all the participating manufacturers reap the rewards. It works well here, since there are very few specific models to make springs for compared to the European market and all Audi models are considered "luxury" here.
And meanwhile, the consumer bends over and gets the shaft.
