Hi, im new to the forums and also with audi, so sorry if this question has been answered but i cant seem to find it anywhere. I bought my 1998 a4 2.8 quattro last week and since ive bought it the odometer and trip meter hasn't worked, also my check engine light is on but the car is running smoothly, so i dont know if this is because the computer is messed up or if its an actual problem. Are these things normal? and if so what can i do to fix these problems

 

check the fuse for the meter. as for the CEL, get you car scanned at like autozone who do it for free then ask them to clear it, they might not though. there are tons of guys in nj with vagcom so hopefully they visit this thread

 

Seems bizarre but the odemeter and trip are illuminated by a small bulb. If that bulb blows that part of the dash will be black. Remove the clock housing (5min job) and look for the small bulb behind the ode unit. If it was the general fuse ALL of the clocks will not work.
