Has anyone experienced the plastic fins on the cooling fan completely shattering and punching holes in the radiator? I'm driving an A4 B5 with a 1.8T. Just happened yesterday in Pittsburgh after the car sat all night and it was one of the first cool nights of the year.

The same exact thing happened 2 years ago when we had a week of super-cold weather. Had to replace the cooling fan and radiator then, too. All on the driver's side.

The first time was like WTF... now it is more like FML

 

I've never had it happen but that really sucks. Nylon parts aren't the most durable, just look at the nylon impellers in stock Audi water pumps. They suck. If you ever need a hand I'm only 45 minutes south of Pittsburgh.
