Due to the price of synthetic oil changes, I've decided to do them myself. Just a couple of questions.
1) where do you guys get the longer oil filters for a 1.8t engine?
2) what do you guys do with the used oil?

 

you can give the used oil back to any autozone or advanced auto. no idea if pep boys do that

 

1) I use MANN filters and change oil about 4-5k miles
2) Many places take used oil. The one I use all the time is Jiffy Lube

 

Get one of those oil container from a local part store. You will drain the oil into the container and take it to the part store to dispose it into their container.

They usually ask for your name, phone number, and address just for record keeping sake.
