i would actually pick it up right now if it was a manual. i have always wanted to start a serious build but a tranny swap is too much for me to consider. anybody else think its just a bad turbo by the sound of it?

My car smoked like what was stated in the ad and it was indeed the turbo burning oil. However, since it burned oil, I'd be cautious because the prior owner may have starved the engine of oil, thus the engine would have higher temps and possibly causing a head gasket failure. But if it's just a simple oil seal in the turbo going bad, then that's an easy fix (just install a new/used turbo). But if it's the head gasket blown from overheating, you're in for a lot of work. I'd suggest checking the oil and coolant levels when you see the car in person.
