Im looking at a '99 Audi A4 1.8T that a neighbor of mine is selling. It is a 5spd and has a newly replaced clutch and rebuilt lower engine. The car from the interior to the exterior to the under carrage looks brand new. The only down fall is that the car has 145K miles. I know german cars will last for a while but am wondering what the engine life on a 4cylinder with a turbo would be? 200K ? Maybe ?

 

If its well taken care of it should go a lot longer than 200k miles. That goes for most cars.

 

my girlfriends grandfather has one with 600K+ on his. All you have to do is take good care of it and it'll last a life time. I know for a fact that in Germany they have A4's that'll rollover in miles!

 

The only thing that scares me is that the bottom end has be rebuilt. Usally the thing will quit running before the bottom end is damaged. So what happened that the bottom end needed to be rebuild.
