Default Deer Huntin'

Driving home last night, obeying posted speed limits of 45 MPH, and minding my own business, but focused on the road, a large deer decided to jump ON my car. I caught her mid leap, broad-sided her, sending her whipping over my hood, across my driver's fender, and buckling the door in the process.

I was upset. The deer was dead, something I'm certainly used to seeing living out in the wooded 'burbs of Fairfield County. I picked up the remained of my grill, got a report, and drove on.

Today I picked up a new headlight to replace the broken one and got an estimate at the Audi Body shop while I was in town.

$5200+. For an effing deer hit. Hood, grill, fender, license plate bracket, headlight, paint, condenser, radiator, and lots of little plastic covers... all because of an effing DEER. This doesn't even include the bumper cover in the estimate, which I might need, depending on how bad the damage is when it's removed.

In town, groups of hunters go out with bow-n-arrows for an organized deer hunt in attempt to keep down the ridiculous overpopulation. These things are everywhere, day and night.

So, when my car is at the body shop, I'm having them install a gatling-gun on a turret. It will be heat-sensing and "smart" so it can instantly obliterate deer, bears, moose, raccoons, and the occasion snapping turtle if they decide to spontaneously leap onto my vehicle.

The body shop guys were nice enough to bang out the front section of the hood so I could at least close it. Once the snow subsides, I'll bring her to the body shop

P.S.: Let me know if anyone has nice condition used parts, I might be interested:

01 AWM code 1.8TQM
Hood w/ grill and under hood heat shield
Hood Latch assembly, top and bottom w/ safety release
Fender: driver's with bumper bracket
License plate bracket: front
Lower bumper cover w/ bumper: A4 facelift (2001) or S4
Radiator
Condenser
Radiator Support
Power steering reservoir plastic cover

Anyone else want to share deer-hating stories?

A bear ran into my accord once while driving on Route 23 in Oneonta. Car semi oversteered but i got control of it. I saw it on the other side of the road but im not getting out of my car to find out if this sucka was alive or not.

Rear right taillight and bumper were damaged. 1200 bucks later it was fixed.

Shitty bro Same happened to a buddy's Passat last fall - he hit it at 60mph though, solidly with the driver's front corner of the car. Ruined headlight, bumper, grille, fender, hood, and washer reservoir, plus cooling fan. Total was $4200.

Thanks. I have a body shop estimate, but I have to wait until the insurance company does their own inspection on Monday.

damn dude, I hate to hear about deer recks, especially when someone like you who loves their audi gets one right to the face . I like the A6 back there, will you be driving that while the B5 is in the shop? (U wish right ) Good luck man and remember to ALWAYS have your brights on when you are driving out on the country roads, and all I can really say is that "****" happens to the best of us. Peace

Thanks. This really was not something I needed right now.

That was taken in the body shop, that's a customer's A6. Looks like about million dents were filled on it and it was being prepped for paint. There was also a silver B6 S4 with a destroyed front end... slid through an intersection. **** does happen, I'm just glad I'm in an Audi when it does.
