Default DIY on how to take off..

Im looking for a DIY on how to take off the front end of my car. There some smells coming from the left side of the engine if your standing infront of it. It burns and smells more than normal if youve accelerated harder tahn normal which leads me to believe its a belt. WHen i got it, the guy said it was oil, but i think he wasn't honest. It has an oily smell to it almost, but also rubbery. It just kinda oozes out smoke outa the grill or side of the hood if ive been driving hard, but not much if any after just regular driving. I want an DIY so i could take it all off and look at it, also get more familiar with my car. Thanks.. Also if you coudl diagnose that problem maybe. Thatd be awesome

Any half-decent timing belt DIY oughta have instructions for removing the bumper and/or the rest of the junk thats in the way when you're doing a TB job. I just ordered the TB kit from blauparts, and with it supposedly comes detailed instructions to do exactly what you're asking. Maybe when i get them I'll scan them into a PDF and see if Jason or one of the others mods will put it in one of the stickies

Look for oil leaking from the area of the valve covers. If it's dirty, clean the engine bay (avoid the alternator and coil packs) and monitor for a oil leak dripping onto the exhaust.

You could also pull the engine under pan and check the bottom for leaks. Techs often refer tho the under pan of these cars as a "diaper" to catch oil!
