Default Does anyone else have this weird problem?

My A4's trunk is f*%#ed!!

Every time I open it is nearly impossible to get it closed again- like the trunk won't latch and I have to try to shut it like 10 times before it latches.

Is this a common problem? Do I need to replace the latch or something? IT's really annoying!

What year? Trunk lock has evolved a bit over the years. B7's seem to collect more snow and ice which effects opening. But neither my B5 or B7 has ever had latching issues.

Never actually seen a post complaining about the trunk latch so I don't think its a common problem. Sounds like the latch just isn't working right, assuming that the hinge mechanism etc isn't getting pinched / stopped so that the trunk isn't closing all the way / far enough to latch. Could be as easy as oiling it up, but likely you will end up just replacing the latching mechanism I would guess.

You could always start off by just spraying it with some WD-40 and see if that helps it any. If it does but doesnt last long, you may need to use some heavier oil or even replace it.
