Default This doesn't look good.

I keep hearing a squeak coming from the timing belt area when the engine warms up. I pulled back the timing belt cover to see how the timing belt looked and there are no cracks or anything, so I started the engine and saw that the belt was shaking. I turned off the engine and the damn thing is so loose that I can push it in with my finger. So this is just probably a matter of time before the teeth slip of the gears right? I'm going to be getting another engine in a few more months though. Do you think it's possible that the engine would last that long? There's no point getting it fixed since that would cost almost as much as the engine that going to get put in.

I was thinking that could be another thing too. Just to get in there though, equals $$. That's one thing that sucks about the design of these motors.

Thinking that for sure you need to park that before it does slip and do some damage. My firs guess would be your tensioner. But ya never know until your elbow deep!

Yeah I should have the car parked, but this is my dd and I commute over 100mi. a day to work. I need it to run on a miracle until I can get that other motor lol.

Theres no way of accurately predicting how long thats gonna last. If you're going to swap the motor anyway I guess it doesn't matter, unless you were planning on selling the motor thats in there now to recoup some of the cost of the swap. Other than that, I'd just make sure you have your cellphone on you in case you float a valve during your commute

see i never understood this... if a company is going to using timing belts instead of chains... then why wouldnt they design their motors to be free wheeling engines? makes no sense
