As for cutting a slot for a big flat head, wouldn't I require a ridiculous amount of torque to free the stud?
no since the head(nut part) was broken off, the tension is relieved from the threads inside. before you cut the slot you can tap it lightly with a hammer to shock any corrosion.
if this is the turbo to cat stud i have some if you want them at no charge.
