Yeah I still haven't put the depo's in, but I did get fogs and grills so as soon as it warms up a little, I'll put the entire set-up in. Be advised, if you put shorter springs in without putting in shorter shocks, you're shocks will be toast in no time at all. As far as the vvme's go, I was thinking about putting them in the fogs, but I don't think that would be such a hot idea as far as functional foglight output is concerned. So, as soon as I get off my lazy butt and put the other lights in, they'll be up for grabs.

Heheh, yeah I know about the struts going on it. I've seen mixed reviews on that, and I'm considering it as well - if I can find a good price on a strut/spring set, I'll snap it up. Being that the broken part of the spring is almost flat on the perch, I'm not that worried about it right now. The car handles and rides just fine - no untoward behavior back there. I doubt I'd install just the springs, but I've been dumping a lot of money on this thing lately (mainly for upgrades for worn-out OEM parts), so I'd like to wait a couple months and do it all together.

As for the HIDs, definitely buzz me when they're available - I'll put 'em to use

hahaha, you had the same problem i had wiht the sensor, only my right rear sensor all other sensors pull right out, it took me 6 months and 2 sets of needle nose pliers to rip the rest of the sensor and corrolator (the thing that hold the damn thing in), i didn feel like spending 130 on a new sensor so i got one off a guy parting a coupe quattro, got the sensor for $5 and just spliced it into the old wiring, works great.

Oh, and to add to the problems, I found that the bottom coil on that corner of the car snapped about 4" from the end, right against the spring perch.
That's the same place thattherearcoil spring broke on Rudy's (fumoazul99 - but hasn'tbeen on the forums for a while) car. Seems like it'sbecoming more of a common thing than a one-in-a-million incident.

No kidding - normally I wouldn't mind it happening, since my mantra has always been "why replace when you can upgrade?" That, for me, means lowering springs, and by extension, aftermarket struts. Fine, but I've spent a decent amount of money on this thing in the last month and a half, with valve cover gaskets, A8 brakes, wheels, tires, a pair of front axles, depo lights, and the wheel bearing kit (plus about $110 in various tools that I didn't have, such as the hex bit sets for the rear brakes and axle nuts, a new torque wrench, and a new 18" breaker bar). So to then be faced with also buying struts and springs, plus another ABS sensor, it's starting to not be so fun. But that's the nature of higher-mileage cars and I'm well-acquainted with replacing parts over the years, so at least it's not a surprise. I'm gonna leave the struts/springs alone at least until the June tax money comes (thankfully I get $1200 because of my son and daughter). I'm going to try and source a set in the meantime if I can find a good price, but if not, I may just buy springs now and struts when that check is deposited, and then install them. Since the break is right on the perch, I'm not sweating it too much but I will keep an eye on it, check it every couple weeks or so, and listen for signs of degrading components that would necessitate bumping up the purchase date (or taking manufan up on his offer of using his OEM rear spring that came off his car when he lowered it).

you know i love my car so much that i stopped drinking for a while to save up money for the VCGs. maybe you can think of something if you love your car like i love mine hehe. also anytime this week when you're turning wrenches i'll always be down unless something turns up suddenly like always lol. i just took my car to PA on the highway and the wheel bearing is a real mother forking loud as hell piece of $hit. the drone of it even goes over my music lol.

Sounds good to me. Either Tuesday or Wednesday (not sure yet which) I'm installing a lighting setup for someone, but the upside is, it's on a truck and we're going to Home Depot first so I can get my pegboard and the materials to build my workbench, so that'll be cool. I'll know tomorrow which day that'll be, although I told him I'm shooting for Wednesday so we can do the VCGs and/or axles on Tuesday. Either way though, I don't think we'll have a problem getting all of it done. I may be able to get out of work early whichever day we're going to do the VCGs, so I don't anticipate problems. And since the lighting install will only take an hour or so, I may do one axle the same day, so that the other day involves our VCGs and only one axle install. I'll know more tomorrow and will buzz you once I find out.
