Default Door panel damage + f***ed up friends

So after riding with a friend off campus to lunch during school, he parks his vehicle by my Audi. As all of my friends know, I've got like some obsessive disorder or somehin on my parking jobs. I always park on the ends and not in the middle of the parking aisles making sure I park perfectly in the lines, then get out of the car and circle around it to make sure its all legit. Obviously, I do not want people parking too close and hittin their doors on mine when they open it, or hittin the car in any other way.
But when he parks next to me, I take the time to repark my car because I didn't like how close he parked next to mine and the angle.
After school I walk out to the parking lot to find that my driver side door panel has a small, but ugly and deep scratch/dent from my friend's door.
What happened was, my friend had 2 people in his vehicle. Another friend, who's been known to be careless and ignorant about things and peoples things, comes and opens the door to get in without letting my friend(driver) know. The door is left wide open and he sits on the seat but he claims there was something under his *** when he sits so he gets up to pick it up.
Before you know it, the driver puts the vehicle in reverse and begins pulling out with that door still wide open.... Which then hits my door and leaves this small deep dent/scratch. It does not look pretty. Sorry for the lack of pics, i am unable to locate my camera right now but when I do I will post pics.
So what do you guys think... Who should pay more out of the two. Neither one of the two think it was any of their faults.... Therefore, neither one of the two really don't feel that they should pay for any more than 50% of the damage. The driver doesn't even feel he should pay at all. I said the amount to get it fixed is $500.... But I hear that that is just minimum. What should I do yalllllz. This is killin me.

ya you weren't kidding about fucked up friends. all my friends know i'm obsessed with my car and if anything happened to it i would flip out so they all respect my ride. plus i get plenty of compliments. i think the driver should pay because if you're not responsible enough to make sure all the doors are closed first, you shouldn't be driving. i hope you get things sorted out and maybe find friends who actually care about you and your things

Its 100% the drivers fault and if you went through insurance, which you should threaten, then they would say the same thing. What kind of jackass doesnt look to see the all of the doors are closed? Sorry about your car, I would tell the driver that he is responsible for paying for the damage since HIS car HIT YOUR CAR and if his friend is responsible the two of them can work it out after you get paid from the driver. Good Luck

jzobie is on with that recommendation - that's what I'd do.

If you can't settle it privately, use your insurance. Pretty simple. Got a witness that is on your side? Even better.

thanks for the advice guys, I say its the driver now too, IT ALL MAKES SENSE! lol.
It's just the whole friend bullshit that holds me back but I want my damn car fixed.
There was lots of witnesses, especially a bunch of other friends who was parked and hangin out right by us too. They all say that it's the friend that opened the door's fault.

3 things friends should not **** with, even accidently: Your food, your wife, and your car.

+2 for onepoint.

And I am sort of in the same situation... one of my best friends moms backed into the front of my S4. Didn't do to much damage, but my front bumper needs to be re-painted and she keeps saying to try rubbing compound and stuff like that. She doesn't want to file it under her insurance or anything. I just want my car fixed as well! Oh and she didn't even tell me about it. I noticed it later that night after I left her house and figured that it had happened sometime during the day. The next day I was showing my friend and his mom asked what was going on and I told her and she was like oh... yeah that was me. I was sort of pissed that she didn't say anything!

Your friend is at fault. He should out of pocket or his insurance should pay to fix it. He shouldn't have backed it up if the door was still open.
