Default double din head unit removal

hey everyone, my radio is in safe mode cause of taking out the battery for too long so i ordered the 4 tools to take it out...

well i dont understand how to actually get it out now...

i put them in there with the pointy end toward the outside of the car, but its not budging...

anyone have any tips or tricks?

or does ANYONE know if i can just use vag com or any other way to get the safe code or what to do about this...

any help would be... helpful! thanks guys

if you pull out the radio, how will that get it out of safe mode? i thought safe mode was put in there so in case someone does try to steal your deck, they cant use it without the code.

the only way to get out of safe mode is entering the code.

well sometimes you can get the radio serial number and get somebody at audi to get you the radio code. taking the double din out is kind of annoying. are the tools stuck in the slots? if so, the HU should come right out. if you can easily take the tools out, then they haven't popped the clips that hold the radio in it's chassis cage.

I believe the dealer will be able to look up the code by the VIN number.

yeah you really gotta jam those keys in there. try unclipping one side at a time. if you can unclip one corner keep pulling on the radio and try unclipping another corner. ive had to do that to a couple cars when i worked at circuit city. or you could try shoving some thin yet strudy wire in there. that sometimes works better than the keys.

so it should go in ALL the way? cause it seems like it should only go in about 3/4 of the way (that far is when i can move the keys a tad bit to the outside of the car and feel the tab being compressed.... or atleast it seems this is whats happening)
