Dragging a brick sound
I asked the other day about a noise on this car I just bought from the front right suspension area and was advised to change the control arms.
I got the parts for that(haven't done it yet) but after driving it for about 5 five days I have also noticed another sound from the same area. It sounds like grinding, like dry metal to metal. It actually sounds like I am dragging a cinder block along side the tire on the road, just not as loud.lol Speed, turning or breaking don't affect the sound. It stops when I decelerate to <10mph. Would that be the same issue with the control arms or could it be the bearings making that noise? Or...could it be the Cone filter the guy put on before me?
Thanks

Ok. just got new wheels/tires today. For whatever reason it made the noise louder and it sounds like the right rear. Plus the tire guys said the tire moved up/down and left/right a lot. So I think the bearing is shot.
Did you mention the noise/concern to the tire place? Should of had them check the brake pads as well would of been very quick since the tires were already off. Probably would have been a good idea to ask them questions.
Yeah, when you have play on a mounted wheel, it most likely a wheel bearing. Not to jinx anything else but you should check your front ball joints, bushings and wheel bears also.
