Default drilling into the dash...???

I just bought a cosmetic frame to go around the gear shifter. Only thing is, I noticed that it needs to be drilled (-well actually screwed-) into the plastic surrounding the shifter and leather boot. Should there be any problems with this? or is there anything I should be cautious to watch out for? I am also afraid that the screws may not hold strongly enought in the plastic since if I am correct, it is very thin and frail. Has anybody similarly assembled anything to the plastic dash area before? does it hold well if only installed into the plastic? Thanks again...I'm trying to do this quick little install tomorrow on my day off.

im not quite sure exactly what ur trying to do without pictures, but if its something that is not going to have alot of stress the plastic should hold, but if you are drilling be careful not to nick any wires or anything, cause that would cause you a whole lot of problems.

Good Luck

Yeah, so I went ahead and did the install today. It was nothing big, just a shifter frame (see below). The screws weren't too deep so I just drilled them in and used some loctite on there too (Though I know I probably shouldn't have used any loctite). It seems pretty secure and I am satisfied but now I am a little concerned because it will be a bitch to reinstall the frame if I need to remove it often, b/c the holes will wear and it will only fit in the same ones. Really wish it had some bolt mechanism or something. If ever I need to get in under the shifter or behind that panel- and I'm sure I will- I may have a hrad time putting that contraption back securely. Oh well. Here's what it looks like.

I bought it from LLtek (www.lltek.com). I didn't see it online but its in their pdf catalog which is available online...~page 80 or 82. Its wayyyy overpriced for what it is, but I guess I was in a good mood. $66 USD.
