Drivetrain sezing?
When I recenly tried to drive up my drive way that was coated in ice and snow my car began to slow and came to a hault. it sounded and flet like the drive train sezed up while all wheels were spining. this has happened on more than one occation. can any one lend some knowlage?
Yes I was slipping but the car would not even spin the tires!
one would think in that case the rpms would sore but they droped b/c of the what ever was happening to the point were i had to put the clutch in or it would stall

that sounds really weird. i've gone through 1 foot of snow while the ground was an inch of ice with the cheapest tires i could find in my town. try going part way, stop, pull the ebrake, sort of try to get the going with the ebrake up then drop the ebrake slowly.
What do you do to solve the problem each time? (assuming you're not still stuck in your driveway)
I would say the next thing to try is put it up on four jack stands and carefully run through all the gears and see if your wheels stop spinning then. Listen for noises.
I think you're missing something in the description of the problem... how fast is your speedo reading when you think all four wheels are spinning uphill on ice?
My bet is you're foolishly trying to get the wheels to spin and are in too high of a gear when the car begins to get traction. I would say if that is the case you might want to have someone teach you how to drive.

Very funny!
I was in 1st gear each time
the spedo goes from abot 3-4k to 1-500 and then i put the clutch in before it stalls it is not b/c of traction other wise i would not have a problem. it seems as if something is sezing up and and it just stops the car
to get out of these situations i just roll back down the hill and give it another go or not depending on how much speed i can get before the hill

if you drivetrain is siezed up, your wheels probably wont be spinning. check for wheel bearings and service your differentials/transmission.

hehehe the speedo tells your vehicle speed. you're confusing it with the tach buddy lol. i'm pretty sure 99a4 means speedo when he said speedo too. there's really no reason why the car would bog down like that. you should really take it to a shop to have it checked out or pm auditech79 or techbod
It could very well be that its related to an ABS issue. While I had one sensor not working I pulled out after getting gas one day and I had the go pedal to the floor and the car was shuddering and slowing down. I found if I tapped the brake pedal just once it released all the brakes and the car was fine again. But everytime I first started the car and started off I had to watch out for it to do it again. Yes I know you might not have a bad sensor but think about what controls traction from side to side. Its the ABS brake system Called EDL which stands for electronic differential lock. Sometimes with all 4 wheels spinning the ABS will put the brakes on in all 4 wheels. That kind of sounds like whats going on in your case. But maybe not. I'm just trying to make a point But think about it..
