Default Drop w/out sport suspension?

I have a 96 A4 and as we know the sport suspension was not avaliable that year. So I'm looking to go with a spring/shock setup because I simply can't afford coilovers. since I'm sitting so high, should I worry about not getting low enough with say H&R sports springs with Blisten sport shocks?

What about a used S4 suspension, how low do you guys think it will go? The spring rates are similar with them both being v6 engines. Has anyone done this?

I know coilovers will settle every problem I have but I want to get a performing suspension, and not vmaxx or something cheap....

thanks,

this has been covered more then enough times if you had searched.

how low are you looking to go? what is your budget? H&R springs are somewhere around 1.5" drop. is that good enough? S4 shocks and springs will fit.

Ok, I like to think I'm not a typical noob, and my question was not just "what suspension is good for my car?" I was just wondering about the differences in drop because I DONT have the sports suspension I would say that is pretty specific and btw I can't find **** searching.

I think H&R sport springs are like .5" to .75" lower than stock sport and like 1.25" to 1.5" lower than stock non sport. If you dont think the sports will go low enough get the race springs. People have used the stock S4 set up on A4s, I would imagine that it would sit about as high as an S4 does. The shocks can be used on a 1.8 and both shocks and springs will work for 2.8s. The S4 springs will fit a 1.8 but spring rates would be off and it would have a bit of front rake (front lower than back) If you're unsure look thru the wheel & suspension threads on here and Audizine, pages and pages of different set ups. And Ghost is right there are so many threads on suspensions, I can't believe you didnt find anything.

I got 500 results via advanced search with the terms 's4 suspension' and narrowed it to only the b5 a4 section. you're doing it wrong.

Hey, I'm selling H&R Sport springs for pretty cheap. They're new, obviously, so let me know if you're interested.

I searched "suspension non sport" and "1996 suspension" I guess I was being too specific. I was trying to yield answer for JUST 1996 12V because I figured suspension questions would be isolated to just that model since its the only year without optional SS.... I wasn't trying to ask "will the s4 suspension work on my 1996," i know it does man, I just wanted to know some specifics I guess, sorry guys. Thanks for the info though.

I listed them on Ebay for $200 (I originally payed $230 for them) and they didn't sell, so I relisted them. This week if they do not sell, I'll hold on to them for a while. I'm in no rush to sell them.
