Default dtc p1544 suggestions

Hi my 98 a4 2.8 quattro started throwing code p1544 which stands for " throttle actuation potentiometer signal too high. " any ideas on how to attack this?. I know it has to do with the throttle body but its new about a year. Would a vag com throttle alignment help out? Or cleaning of it which makes no sense because its new.? Any help thanks guys

No one's answered because that's a tough one. Start by making sure the throttle body is clean, and that the butterfly isn't sticking at all. It can also be caused by intake ait leaking in to the system that the MAF hasn't measured.

If its throttle body related. Pull it clean it and then do a Vag-com alignment. Lets us know if the problem still persists. You have drive by cable correct? If so its possibly a TPS problem.

What do you mean by air leaking into the system? After the maf a leak in the intake? And is it possible to be that dirty if it was just replaced about a year ago?. Thanks for replying

I replaced the tb last year but I don't believe they did an alignment on it could that be a cause? I know the tps was replaced with the tb because they are one piece am I right?

Sorry, missed the part about the TB being new. It's hard to believe it's very dirty after one year.

The MAF meaures how much air is going into the intake manifold, and sends that data to the ECU. So, any air leaks after the MAF (between the MAF and the combustion chamber) is extra air the ECU doesn't know about.
