Default ecu chip?

hey guys, i just recently bought a 98 a4 1.8t quattro m/t 71k miles.. i loove it so far!!! .. its totally stock and iv been reading alot on doing different upgrades and it seems like the ecu chips the first. so i read in the newbie guide that giac is the best for the b5. i also read alot on apr. from your guys experience wich one would be good for daily driving combined with a fmic, cone intake with heat sheild and a custom turbo back exaust with test pipe (my dad owns a welding and fabrication buisness) .. also with ... lets say the giac chip how much can i safely run the boost at with a manual boost controller? and approx how much power can i expect to gain just from a chip alone? thx for ur help, this site is great i'v learned a lot on audi's without asking any questions!!

GIAC seems to be more tourquey down low compared to at least APR, but they are all about the same as far as 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. I don't recommend a fmic with the stock turbo. Most people see a pressure drop of a couple psi, but that sort of depends on the core/piping size. With the stock turbo, the smaller the better. The cone intake topic has been beaten to death. Do a search on that. 20 psi is about the max you'd want. If you did any research on APR or GIAC you'd know it adds ~50hp/~50tq since they advertise so blatently. Your questions are sort of basic and and common which is why people are not so motivated to run and answer them Good luck. That is seriously low mileage you have!

The lower IAT's make up for the loss of PSI
