I don't run AC for about that long as well, if not longer (in fact my car doesn't have an AC belt at the moment...). The value of hooking up to the AC compressor clutch wire is that when you do have AC on, the fan will run which pulls extra cool air across the condenser and improves its efficiency.

What other accessory would you hook that wire up to? I can see hooking that wire up to a dash-mounted switch as a viable option (the other end of the switch would be hooked up to switched 12V).
