Engine issues.... bad ones.
Alright, i bought my 2001 audi a4 1.8t in december, drove it home two hours away... and before i even got there the engine was acting up... took it in. Had to get my valve stem seals replaced because they were cracked, 1500ish later im like alright im good to go. been doing regular oil changes and such, well, i moved back to my home town, so i made the two hour drive back, and whattayaknow, two days later my engine is acting up again! ive taken it in, and the mechanic is telling me either the engine or the turbo is shot, the symptoms are smoke out of the tailpipe, which smells like oil burning, and the acceleration is whacked. thank god for free towing, i had it towed in this time. but i dont get it, i kept up with the regular maintenance, any time i take this car on a drive over 100 miles, it gives me major problems. Is this the love hate relationship people talk about? any ideas as to what could be wrong? im new to being an audi owner, and im seriously thinking about getting rid of this thing as soon as its drivable again. thanks.
dude, keeping up with regular maintenace won't prevent problems but will only prevent the problems from happening sooner. also, whoever your mechanic is, he sounds quite unfamiliar with audis. check for any fault codes, clear them and post them. are you slowly losing oil?
