Default Engine noises...

There are two engine noises that I'm trying to figure out. The first one is an annoying squeaking sound coming from the timing belt area. It's loudest when the engine is warmed up at idle and quiets down as I accelerate I'm thinking it's the timing belt tensioner roller, or could the water pump possibly make a noise like that? Is it common for the roller to wear out and make noises if not changed every timing belt change?

The second noise I get is like a sort of subtle grinding noise as the engine slows down to about idling speed. I hear it mostly when I'm in a parking lot going slow and then come to a stop sign.

Any insight you feel like sharing would be much appreciated. Thanks.

take a make shift stethescope (sp?) a piece of hose is what i use. that will help narrow down your problem. make it long, so you don't loose limbs if it gets sucked into a belt or something.

Buddy of mine had the squeak. He found out it was the serpentine tensioner when it blew apart on the highway.
