Default engine polish

My engine(the metal part of the engine) is showing and it looks like crap. how will i be able to polish it to make it look much cleaner. Do i need to sand it down, in this case what grit sandpaper, and then get metal polish and polish it?

Not nearly descriptive enough as the entire engine is made of metal. If its the valve cover then sanding and polishing will work and the grit will all depend on what results you want. 1500 grit and then polish will get it down to a chrome look. Although you need to start w/ 500 and work your way to that. If its the block or head then you should just clean it thoroughly w/ a brush where you can get at it.

There's a very involved process with a lot of steps to get a true chrome-like finish. I spent 70 hours polishing the intake manifold and water pipes on my Z. If you're serious about doing this, shoot me a PM and I'll go through what it takes.
