ENGINE SWAP
if you had the money, i would definitely go with a vr6 swap. no replacement for displacement, and a 3.2l engine spools a turbo real nice. and you'd spend less than getting an s4. 034 already has most the pieces you need, all you need is a few fabricating skills.
"quattro_1.8t" is that supposed to be a diss or a compliment cuz either way i dont care about people speaking like idiots in here.... i had a question and it got answered by someone who isnt a huge dick so thanks
erthqke, you need to put a sock in the attitude in a hurry - you're very new here and acting like that is not a way to garner any friends and can make it very tough to get answers for your questions later on - it's not too tough to blacklist yourself through your own actions and posts, as other former members have found out. Not e-thugging here, but believe me, I'm telling you the way it is. Talk to Bob1239u7357834090834 if you doubt it. He's probably on the 'zine now.
Don't assume he was being a dick. He wasn't, and if you took a few minutes to think about what he's saying, you'd probably realize the truth of it. Many people who haven't been exposed to that kind of power (or even lower levels of power) have no idea what it's like to handle. Hell, even driving it daily, you can find that levels of power like that are so ridiculous, that it can take away the fun of the car and make you slower at the same time (not to mention the amount of time you spend repairing and replacing a constant stream of parts that break because they weren't intended for that kind of power). A 300whp AWD car is a street rocket - it's got the power to pull very hard (hard enough to beat most of the cars you're likely to encounter), but enough capability for traction that it's not a hopeless wheelspinning nightmare. My old 300ZXTT tended that way - about 440whp, RWD, and yeah, a lot of fun. However, with 4.08 gearing, extremely responsive stock turbos, and that level of power, the car would break loose in 3rd gear at any speed below 60mph. Even a brisk takeoff from the line would break the rear loose. It's cool initially, but if you're just trying to drive the f*cking thing without causing a scene, it gets tiring in a hurry. Go around a turn in a powerful RWD car, hit a bump that causes your ankle to flex and tap into another 50whp - it'll wake you right up. That kind of thing can happen with high powered AWD cars too. And most of the time, your tires can't harness that kind of sudden torque (the type when turbos hit fast and hard) and you'll waste that extra power in wheelspin.
Add to that the fact that it doesn't require a huge power number to be fast - it takes ability behind the wheel. Believe me, I've been driving quite awhile and have done various forms of racing, organized and not, and I can control a car pretty well. There are people out there (and probably more than you'd realize) who could embarrass me with a car making 100whp less. You don't need huge numbers, you need a good chunk of power and the ability to control it. That's the point he's trying to make.
And calling a spade a spade, the final point I think he's trying to make is that so many people come on here (or any other board) and immediately start talking about how they want to swap engines, or build a 500whp car, or they're going to twin-turbo their 4.2L engine and their uncle has a four-turbo Corvette that does 300mph, yada yada yada, and rarely if ever do those "plans" ever come through. Maybe you'd be the exception to the rule and actually motor-swap your car - I don't know. If you did, it'd be refreshing. Most people who talk about it don't end up doing it, and it gets tiring to hear about it after you've been around awhile.
Cool it and find out why people post what they do - few people on here intentionally set out to be a ***** so there's usually a valid reason they tell you something.

ok dad i wasnt talking to clx u idiot that is why i quoted "quattro_1.8t" try and read.... i had a general question and i dont need losers commenting on ignorant ****. i appreciate everyone that helps... and people that have nothing to say have the power to not post anything... this is a question forum u fool not a family reunion so chill out
Everything that I said that could've tried to illuminate you on his point sailed right over your head. Where in there did I have a problem with you asking a question? My problem is when you come in here brand new on the boards, acting like you did in that post to quattro_1.8 (I mistyped on the first post and thought you meant CLX, then changed that a couple minutes later - maybe you should try to read, and reread my post). So tell us what's so offensive or moronic about this:
His comment at the end? What's wrong with that? It's a true statement, and one that most people learn is true after awhile. He was trying to help out, but apparently you didn't appreciate that. Nor did you appreciate when I tried to expand on his point, even though both posts were aimed at helping.
What you don't need is your attitude. If one of us "losers" is trying to point something out to you, whether you agree or not, and whether you like it or not, and you miss the point, how does it make us the fool? Instead of coming in here swinging at other members, calling them idiots, dicks, fools, etc, try keeping an open mind and thinking about some of this. When you **** off too many people, people stop answering your posts (just a fact of life here - not threats, not "fool" behavior, not being a dick, not being idiotic, just pointing it out and hoping you realize it).
Well I'm 19 almost 20 and have driven quite a few high hp cars. A few of my favorites: 580rwhp 300zx tt, porsche GT3, 450rwhp rx-7 fd, 300awhp bug eye wrx, 400fwhp civic hatch, and a bunch more. I have been tossing around the idea of either buying an S4 and throwing some K04s on there, doing a BT on the 1.8t or a VR6T build/swap. Some people think their invincible with their awd system and a ton of hp, its not like that at all with over 400awhp even 300awhp.
