I didn't remove the intake on mine, just the throttle body. I guess you could remove the intake if you wanted more room to work with but it would seem like a lot of extra work.

Ah i was just wondering if you replaced yours for the same reason because this is the first winter i've had this car and also the first cold front to move into florida. I bet at 50 your riding with the windows down and sunroof open.

We sure are up here. And although it sounds like a fair amount of work on the 1.8T, if you had a 30v this is what you'd be in for (changed the thermostat on my car Friday night):

I do appologize for your troubles i'll have to take pictures to show you where mine is. However i bet every time you push the gas pedal just a little more your car responds much nicer than the 1.8T

Actually it really isn't hard at all, just takes 3 1/2 hours or so. Only pain was getting the channel cover off the thermostat to remove it while the timing belt was still on. We figured out how to do it though and the car is running perfectly.

Are you hating on the little engine that could? Good luck with the repairs... my parents live down that way, but I'm not that fortunate...

Thanks and no i'm not hating lol. However i do wish i could have those extra 20 hp the 2.8 has, sure would come in handy at times. But i also enjoy having room underthe hood to work rather than audi trying to find the biggest possible engine to stuff in the smallest car.

Hell that's easy. Www.speedtuning.com and for less than $200 you'll pick up 45hp and 65tq if I remember right.
