Can someone give me an estimate on how much it would cost to swap my Auto/Tip tranny with a manual? also a list of parts i would need would be nice, I could do all the work myself, my A4 already has 152,000 miles.

 

would this be a 1.8t, 2.8 or to 6speed s4 tranny?

 

1.8T, either a 5 speed a4 or a s4 6 speed, do you think the s4 tranny is worth it?

Can't estimate cost because there's no way to know what those parts are going to cost used. New parts only? It would cost about 5-6x the value of the car.

 

And unless you have an upsized turbo, the S4 trans isn't worth it - the gear ratios are optimized for the torque curve of the S4's 2.7L twin-turbo V6, which is quite a bit beefier than that of a 1.8T.

 

Rough estimate it can be done for 2k or less (dependent on if you have a local yard to source parts from etc.) It's fairly straight forward and you will learn a lot about the car by doing so. My advice would be to shop around for parts (clutch is the most expensive thing if going aftermarket) and see if it's worth it to you.
